Lexical cohesion is established through semantic links among words, sentences, and their components, and it plays an essential role in enhancing the reader’s comprehension of the content. Persian and Arabic poets have also employed cohesive devices to convey the concepts of resistance with greater precision. Among them, Muhammad al Eid Al Khalifa, the Algerian poet (1904–1979), and Qeysar Aminpur, the Iranian poet (1959–2007), are two prominent figures in resistance literature. By using cohesive devices in their works, they have succeeded in creating purposeful connections among textual elements connections that facilitate the transmission of meanings and contribute to the formation of a coherent text. This article, adopting a descriptive-analytical approach and based on Halliday and Hasan’s theory, examines lexical cohesion in the odes of these two poets and compares the similarities and differences between them at the level of cohesion and resistance-related themes. The findings indicate that the common aim of both poets is to convey the message of resistance and steadfastness against oppression and aggression, and that lexical cohesion serves as an instrument in delivering this message. Among the lexical devices, semantic contrast has the highest frequency. Qeysar Aminpur tends to employ symbols and implicit expressions in presenting contrasting concepts, whereas Muhammad al Eid Al Khalifa articulates them directly in a simple and unembellished style.
