Undoubtedly, religion has been the most enduring theme of human existence, and religious teachings, including the precepts and prohibitions concerning the hijab and modesty of Muslim women, can independently serve as the subject of fictional works in Islamic countries. Addressing such themes imbues a novel with a religious or Islamic orientation, and a novel in which the author consciously and deliberately adheres to this approach, subordinating events and characters to articulate and elucidate it, can be termed a religious novel; Ahlam al-Shabab by the Tunisian author Khawla Hamdi is a prime example. The present study, employing a descriptive-analytical method through documentary library research, seeks to answer the following primary research question: What Islamic themes and motifs does the author of Ahlam al-Shabab explore within her Islamic framework? The findings reveal that the author maintains a consistent Islamic approach throughout the novel, directly addressing issues pertaining to Muslim women, such as the hijab and the observance of boundaries between mahram and non-mahram, while advancing the plot and character actions in accordance with Islamic teachings. Furthermore, the novel tackles themes common to both men and women, such as assisting brothers and sisters in faith, practicing modesty, and placing one's trust in God (tawakkul). Ultimately, this novel can be regarded as a quintessential exemplar of the religious/Islamic novel.
